36th National Homebirth Australia Conference
Theme: Culture, Community & Connection
9th - 11th November 2024
Surfair Beach Hotel Marcoola Sunshine Coast, QLD Australia |
The 36th Annual Homebirth Australia conference is an opportunity for homebirth professionals, birth enthusiasts and home-birthing families to meet, network, learn and connect. The theme for our 2024 conference is 'Culture, Community and Connection.
Following on from the 2023 Sydney conference (which was our first in-person conference since 2019), it didn't take us long to decide on the theme for the 2024 conference. Many attendees at the 2023 conference spoke about the strong sense of community and connection that they felt. We felt it too, and we feel it every time we attend a local homebirth meet up in our communities, or deliver a meal to a new mama to nourish her through her postpartum.
Culture, Community and Connection are such important aspects of homebirth that we want to bring to the forefront next year, as our conference heads back to its roots and centres women as the experts and champions of birth.
Day 1 of our conference next year will consist of the usual birth worker workshops, which will run alongside a 'Community Day' - a family-friendly exhibition style event where families can come and mingle with professionals from the pregnancy/birth/postpartum realm and learn about everything natural parenting and pregnancy - and homebirth, of course. This event will be very low cost and more interactive than our main conference, with short workshops for parents and entertainment for kids.
Days 2 and 3 of our conference will be the traditional conference format, with a combination of presentations and workshops from our speakers. All members of the community are welcome to attend the main conference, whether you are a birth worker or not.
