Homebirth is a good option for women who are at low risk of pregnancy and childbirth complications. The homebirth service is embedded within the Midwifery Caseload Practice Model of Care. You will receive continuity of care by midwives who will track your health throughout your pregnancy, labour and birth. Two midwives will be present at every homebirth. All homebirth midwives are experienced. They work in close collaboration with a team of midwives, obstetricians and neonatologists at the hospital.

This offers you one midwife (who works in a team) who will care for you through your pregnancy, through your birth and at home for 2 weeks after your baby is born. Active labour, normal birth and breastfeeding are important to us. Limited places available.

Northern NSW (NNSW) Health supports the choice of planned, midwife attended home birth as a safe choice for women with uncomplicated pregnancies. Our home birth program is an extension of our hospital midwifery group practice (MGP) service. A small group of midwives care for you during your pregnancy, labour, birth and for the first few weeks after your baby is born. Most of your care is by one midwife, called a primary midwife.
